Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws is not selling as well as expected.

Star Wars Outlaws is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi but avoids a majority of The Skywalker Saga. Instead, players are encouraged to “risk it all as scoundrel Kay Vess, seeking freedom and the means to start a new life. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted,” continues the official description.
Outlaws was released last month but now, Ubisoft has confirmed it hasn’t performed as hoped. “Despite solid ratings (Metacritic 76) and user scores across the First Party and Epic stores (3.9/5) that reflect an immersive and authentic Star Wars universe, Star Wars Outlaws initial sales proved softer than expected,” Ubisoft said in a new financial update.
“In response to player feedback, Ubisoft’s development teams are currently fully mobilised to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season to position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer,” the update continued.
In a post on social media, developers confirmed they were “hard at work” on several updates for Star Wars Outlaws “which will bring optimization, gameplay polishing and tweaks, as well as quality of life changes including adjustments to combat and stealth gameplay” to the game.

A new expansion Outlaws: Wild Card is also due to launch November 21 and will see “Kay and Nix infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc Tournament where they will face off against the legendary Lando Calrissian. In addition, new contracts will be added free for all players.” The game is set to launch on Steam the same day.
After the game’s shaky launch, Ubisoft has also delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows to next year, with the game now set to launch February 14. “Learnings from the Star Wars Outlaws release led us to provide additional time to further polish the title,” Ubisoft said about the delay.
