Today’s Win On “Music Bank” Makes History As A First In 17 Years

On the May 3 episode of Music Bank, several artists performed newly-released songs including SEVENTEENIVEXdinary HeroesBOYNEXTDOOR, YOUNITE, and more. The two nominees of the episode were trot soloist Lee Chan Won with his song “A Travel to the Sky” and rookie girl group ILLIT with their debut song “Magnetic”.

Until now, ILLIT has already won a total of 11 music show wins with “Magnetic”, including one previous win on Music Bank. They’ve tended to score high in the digital category in the requirements to win (which accounts for 60% of the points), so they’re definitely a strong contestant to be placed against. Other criteria accounting for the points include album sales, broadcast plays, fan votes, and social media charts.

Despite ILLIT far surpassing Lee Chan Won in the digital and social media categories, the soloist still came out on top! He scored particularly high in fan votes, showing just how strong his fandom is.

With this win, Lee Chan Won has become the first trot soloist in 17 years to take home the award on Music Bank.

Here’s how K-Pop fans are reacting to this historic win!

Congratulations to Lee Chan Won for this impressive accomplishment!
