Korean news outlet Topstar News has reported that NewJeans members’ parents were the first to bring up the issue of ILLIT plagiarizing the group. On April 24, 2024, it was reported in Dongah Ilbo that they were the first to raise the matter with ADOR.
Following the news report, the girls’ parents had discussed the matter with ADOR and through ADOR, HYBE. They requested the matter to be solved during a meeting with ADOR.. ADOR then sent a request to HYBE, and HYBE had subsequently asked to meet with NewJeans’ parents. NewJeans’ parents then allegedly claimed that HYBE was not showing enough sincerity, and rejected to meet up with HYBE.
