After the success of Amazon‘s Fallout TV show, fans are flocking to the games. The problem is, Fallout 4 has its fair share of issues, so people rely on mods to improve it, but its renewed popularity is putting strain on Nexus Mods.

Nexus Mods, a site that, as the name suggests, hosts many downloadable mods for popular games, released a warning recently. It stated, “extra traffic could cause a degraded experience across the website and our applications” and added this was because the site was “experiencing much more traffic than usual due to the popularity of the Fallout TV series”.
At the time of writing, Fallout 4, the latest canon entry into the Fallout universe has 64,755 people playing it. It peaked at 164,190 on Sunday, April 21. This is a huge increase from the roughly 20,000 people who were playing it before the TV show came out.
While the game is receiving renewed interest, it is considered by many fans to be the weakest entry in the Fallout series. People were unhappy about the voiced protagonist and writing, so many use mods to tailor their experience to suit their preferences. This is especially common among other Bethesda titles like Skyrim.

Two of the trending mods on Fallout 4‘s Nexus Mods page are inspired by the show, with one featuring Lucy icons, and another being a version of her that can be added to the game.
Other popular mods include adding a karma system, skills and perk overhauls, and visual enhancements.
As well as driving traffic to mod sites, the Fallout show has also caused some music streams to double. The series features many older songs, such as Sheldon Allman’s ‘Crawl Out Through The Fallout’.
Developer Todd Howard has also clarified some timeline confusion that was causing some fans of the game to scratch their heads.
