While speaking to the Evening Standard, the Hole frontwoman discussed the aftermath of the Nirvana frontman’s passing. Love received loads of backlash after Cobain’s death with many even creating conspiracy theories that held her responsible.

Cobain tragically lost his life to suicide on April 4, 1994. He was 27 years old.

In the interview, Love revealed that she wanted to be thought of “as a bitch,” while Cobain wanted to be liked.

“People used to say that I was so difficult,” she told the publication. “They said I was disagreeable. Yes, I am completely disagreeable and I’m never going to apologise for that. I always wanted to be known as a bitch. Being liked was never my thing. Kurt wanted to be liked but not me.”

The ‘Violet’ singer recalled how hate was constantly directed at her but Cobain’s passing at the age of 27 took it to “a whole new level”.

“He was able to hide behind me, but then I got hated,” she said. “Then Kurt died, and the hatred towards me reached a completely new level. I did not plan for that.”

Speaking to NME back in 2020, Love shared: “I also feel like the luckiest motherfucker in the history of rock and roll.”

She also spoke about the changes in her life, saying: “There wasn’t a defining moment, but I changed my lifestyle in a significant way two years ago in August. For years I didn’t pick up an instrument and I stopped having the kind of relationship that you need to have with the guitar to write good songs.”

In other news, Love recently said that Lana Del Rey “should really take seven years off”, after having previously called her a genius.

She also said that pop star Taylor Swift is “not important” and “not interesting as an artist”.
