KoreaIN: “In May, you will come to perform in Brazil for the first time, and many people are counting down the days for it. What are your expectations for this show?”

Mark Tuan: “I’m really excited. I grew up in Brazil for a few years and having the possibility to go back to a place I grew up in is really cool. We (GOT7) are always saying ‘Hi, Brazil,’ but now I can finally introduce myself there. I know you went to other members’ shows too, but I’m really looking forward to finally seeing our Brazilian fans and performing for them. It’s going to be a fun day.”

Mark clarified that he didn’t remember much since he was so little then. Still, he recalled visiting Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

KoreaIN: “The next question is exactly about that! You grew up in Brazil as a child, right? Do you remember anything from that time?”

Mark Tuan: “I remember very little. I remember where I used to live, the small communities. I remember going to visit that statue in the middle of the mountains, Christ? I went there with my parents. (laughter)”

Mark is one-third of GOT7’s international members/rap line AmeriThaiKong (Mark is American, BamBam is Thai, and Jackson Wang is from Hong Kong). Specifically, Mark was born in Los Angeles, California, but he is of Taiwanese descent. So, Ahgases (also known as iGOT7, GOT7 fans) were surprised to hear the American member had an even more multicultural background.

Although Mark hasn’t talked a lot about partially growing up in Brazil, this new interview is not actually the first time he has spoken about it. For example, during the Present: YOU countdown, he shared that his most memorable gift received was one from living in Brazil. Additionally, his brother, Joey, was born in Brazil.

Mark actually lived for some time in both Brazil and Paraguay. He even used to speak Portuguese, but he has since forgotten most.
