SHINee’s Iconic Dance Practice Video Was Actually Leaked, According To Key

SHINee‘s Key recently appeared on DdeunDdeun‘s YouTube channel where he visited the dorm of BOYNEXTDOOR, a fifth generation boy group under KOZ Entertainment. He walked down a rack of their clothes, trying to guess which boy group they belonged to.

He took a trip down memory lane when he looked at certain articles of clothing. One such trigger was a loose and comfortable set of band shirts which he guessed would only be worn during dance practice sessions.

They bought these since they’re cute but it’s so obvious they’ll only be worn during practice.

The staff behind the camera noticed that groups like SHINee wore ultra-casual clothing such as these shirts in their official dance practice videos in the past. Nowadays, however, everything is much more streamlined.

When idols recorded their practice video, they used to sweat a lot and showed their real selves. But these days, it’s so neat.

Key had an immediate explanation as to why this is so. The reason why they were so laidback in the past is because they had no intention of releasing their practice sessions in the first place.

He used their iconic “Lucifer” dance practice video as an example. Though it seems cool now that they put all their effort into their dancing and not their appearance, they wouldn’t have done so if they had a choice.

We’ve never released our training videos. They were all leaked.

SHINee would have changed their clothing and fixed their hair if they knew the video would be made public. Key in particular would not have been caught dead on camera without makeup.

Do you think Taemin’s absurd ‘Barcode’ T-shirt or my updo would’ve been shown to the public? I told you that I thought the world would collapse if I didn’t wear makeup. We wouldn’t have shot it like that. They were all leaked.

Because these practice videos became a hit, the company decided to put more effort into them. Due to SHINee’s unintentional influence, releasing dance practice videos became an industry standard.

Since these videos went viral, people thought, ‘We should record it properly and upload it.’ That’s how it became one genre of content.
