His name comes from a comic book character that his grandfather, renowned comic book artist Pete Morisi, created. This persona deeply influences Johnny Dynamite’s storytelling style, especially evident in works like 2023’s The Tale of Tommy Gunn.
In a bold move that heralds the arrival of the warmer months, Johnny Dynamite is poised to traverse the vast American landscape with an eagerly anticipated headline tour this spring. Marking this momentous occasion, Dynamite unveils Straitjacket Summer Love, a track that resonates with the distinct echoes of influential acts like Prefab Sprout, The Colourfield, Strawberry Switchblade and China Crisis. This new single spins a yarn imbued with the subtle complexities of a confining relationship, artfully portrayed through the metaphor of a straitjacket—suggesting both protection and restriction in the throes of summer love. His voice, rich with melancholy and tinged with raw angst, reveals the soul of a contemplative artist, enveloped in the enduring radiance of his musical reflections.
Dynamite collaborated with Claire Wardlaw to craft a compelling visualizer, blending the static beauty of photography with the dynamic flow of animated lyrics.
