Why BTS’s RM Ended Up In A Small Texas City With Less Residents Than The Current Year

BTS‘s RM was really living it up in Texas!

RM joined Instagram, along with the rest of BTS, back in 2021 and shortly after, he posted photos from inside what appeared to be an art museum.

RM added the location Chinati Foundation to his photos.

The Chinati Foundation is a contemporary art museum. The museum is based upon the ideas of Donald Judd, its founder. Donald Judd moved from New York City to Marfa in the 1970s, and he created massive pieces of art that can still be seen at the Chinati Foundation today.

The museum puts an emphasis on “works in which art and the surrounding land are inextricably linked.” It houses a number of incredible works, like School No. 6 by Ilya Kabakov. This art piece actually takes up an entire school building. Each room in the building was designed to look like an abandoned Soviet Union schoolhouse, and the rooms are filled with bookcases, desks, faded posters, flags, and more.

As shown in RM’s Instagram photos, all of the museum’s art pieces combine art, architecture, and land to create unique works of art.

The Chinati Foundation is located in Marfa, Texas.

Marfa is a community of around 1,750 residents. On the town’s official website, it’s described as “a place where the past is present” and as “where celebrities go to escape.” NPR describes the small town as “an unlikely art oasis in a desert town.”

In other words, Marfa is the perfect place for RM to go Namjooning!

Visiting art museums is one of RM’s hobbies, and he’s frequently posted photos of himself at museums. While in New York earlier this year, he visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

He also changed his Weverse profile picture to a photo of him outside of the Jeonnam Museum of Art in Gwangyang, South Korea.

While fans were surprised that RM traveled to Marfa, Texas just to visit an art museum, it’s totally on-brand for him!

Well, I learned something new today.

Honestly, Texas is so big…it’s hard to know all the small cities and towns of that state.

But this one seems right up Namjoon’s alley. pic.twitter.com/zwTukAw4tf

We hope RM had a great time in Marfa and at the Chinati Foundation!
