Dispatch released a damning report revealing the various scams committed by former Olympian Nam Hyun Hee‘s fiancé.

On October 25, Dispatch revealed that Nam Hyun Hee‘s fiancé, Jeon Chung Jo, was a woman who had defrauded seven people out of ₩300 million KRW (about $224,000 USD) and, as a result, has served time in prison.
According to Dispatch, in 2019, Jeon Chung Jo scammed “A” out of ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,240 USD) in a dating scam in which Jeon Chung Jo had acted as a man. In the same year, Jeon Chung Jo then defrauded “B” out of ₩23.0 million KRW (about $17,100 USD) in a dating scam in which this time Jeon Chung Jo acted as a woman.
Dispatch also revealed that in 2018, Jeon Chung Jo defrauded “C” out of ₩57.0 million KRW (about $42,500 USD) in another dating scam before in 2019 defrauding “D” out of ₩72.0 million KRW (about $53,600 USD) in a scam in which Jeon Chung Jo claimed she was a Chaebol and would offer “D” employment. The scam would soon be followed by others in the same year when she defrauded “E” out of ₩16.0 million KRW (about $11,900 USD) and “F” out of ₩4.95 million KRW (about $3,690 USD).
Jeon Chung Jo was punished for her crimes in 2020 when she was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison for her scams. Dispatch then revealed that, according to court papers, Jeon Chung Jo was a woman. In one instance, the judge reportedly admonished Jeon Chung Jo for scamming “A” by claiming that her wife’s brother invests in water and that if “A” invested ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,240 USD), “A” can see returns up to ₩5.00 billion KRW (about $3.73 million USD).
Jeon Chung Jo is a woman and, therefore, (per Korean law) can not have a wife who has a brother. Also, she didn’t have a way to turn ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,240 USD) ₩5.00 billion KRW (about $3.73 million USD) and wouldn’t have been able to return ₩5.00 million KRW (about $3,730 USD).

Previously, former Olympian Nam Hyun Hee revealed in an interview that she was getting married to Jeon Chung Jo. In the interview, Jeon Chung Jo was introduced as a businessman who was born in America, where he was an equestrian. Controversy erupted soon after when netizens claiming to have known Jeon Chung Jo alleged that all of the above were false.
