NLE Choppa On Why He Performed At Atlanta Black Pride Event, “I Feel Like Everyone Is Equal”

NLE Choppa wants his LGBTQ+ fans to know one thing: he’s an ally.

Despite making some headway, Hip-Hop still has a polarizing relationship (looking at you, Boosie) with the LGBTQ+ community, but NLE Choppa is making a legitimate case that rappers can change that.

NLE Choppa’s fanbase has expanded thanks to recent hits like “Slut Me Out” and “Slut Me Out 2,” which has caught on with the LGBTQ+ community.

On Sunday, September 1, the Memphis-born rapper performed at the Atlanta Black Pride event and explained why he was doing what he does best on that particular stage.

“A lot of muthaf**kas will ask me, ‘Man, you a rapper, what you doing at a club like this?’ Well I say ‘F**k them ni**as.’ You wanna know why?” NLE said while addressing the crowd. “I ain’t gon’ lie, man, every day we wake up and we fight acceptance every day. Whether it’s our skin color, whether if it’s our weight, Whether it’s what our sexuality is.”

He continued, “And listen, at the end of the day, I believe in one thing, I feel like everyone is equal, no matter how they drink their water, how they eat their food, how they piss, sh*t, or muthaf**kin’ sleep, you feel me?”

NLE Choppa Is On A New Path

NLE Choppa has made headlines not only because of his music but because of recent lifestyle changes. He went on a celibacy journey, revealing he practiced semen retention.

In a recent cover story for CassiusLife, NLE Choppa also discussed becoming a vegan and making changes he said he “desperately” needed to make.

“I did a lot of self-reflecting. Changed my personality, stopped hanging around certain people,” Choppa told the website. “That’s why I say the pandemic was one of the most important parts of my life. … Just knowing that I had a daughter conceiving at the moment, it really made me grow up.”
