From Benton Harbor to Battle Creek: The Rise of RNS DeeTae

In the ever-evolving landscape of hip-hop, it’s not often that an artist bursts onto the scene with the raw energy and unbridled passion of Deon Ross, better known by his stage name, RNS DeeTae. Hailing from Benton Harbor, Michigan, but currently repping Battle Creek, DeeTae’s journey to the forefront of the Midwest’s rap scene is a story of dedication, brotherhood, and an unwavering commitment to his craft.

DeeTae’s relationship with music began at the tender age of three. He’d spend hours beatboxing, experimenting with instruments, dancing, singing, and penning lyrics. But it wasn’t until 2023, when he co-founded the rap collective “RNS” with his little brother Barack Walker (aka RNS Rockio), that he decided to pursue music seriously.

Since then, DeeTae and RNS have been making waves throughout Michigan and beyond. The group’s unique sound and infectious energy have earned them collaborations with notable artists from Milwaukee and Flint. DeeTae’s consistency and prolific output have resulted in two albums, “RNS Shit” and “THE Chosen One”, with more on the horizon.

When asked about his approach to creating music, DeeTae is adamant: “I’m all about bringing that straight heat. I’d never put out any trash. I work hard at this.” His lyrics, like those in his standout track “Slide”, showcase his talent for clever wordplay and authentic storytelling.

What sets DeeTae apart in a crowded field is his unwavering dedication to his craft and his community. With RNS by his side, he’s determined to make a name for himself and his city on the national stage. As he raps in “Slide”, “I’m a make it out the city and on my granny I can’t wait.”

With his passion, work ethic, and natural talent, RNS DeeTae is an artist to watch in the years to come. His journey from a young boy in Benton Harbor to a rising star in Battle Creek is just beginning. As he continues to hone his craft and share his music with the world, there’s no doubt that DeeTae will make his mark on the hip-hop landscape.
