‘Starfield’ could be getting a big new expansion called ‘Starborn’

As reported by Eurogamer, a new trademark from Bethesda parent company Zenimax gives us some hints as to what the next Starfield expansion could be about. Simply called Starborn, it shares a name with a mysterious faction within the base game, a group who has passed through the Unity and seen other universes.

If there’s any faction to focus a DLC on, it’s the Starborn. This group has powers beyond human comprehension and advanced technology such as their single-occupant guardian starships. Their corpses even dissolve into stardust when they die.

If the DLC really is about the Starborn, then it could explain some big mysteries in Starfield. For one, who the Creators are (or is), why they built the Unity, and what their greater motives are. The DLC could also allow players to explore more alternate universes, like the ones present in some new game plus runs.

As for what’s to come in 2024 in Starfield, we know that the Shattered Space DLC should be coming some time this autumn. There have also been continuous updates to the game occuring rougly once every six weeks, but one of these led to fans review-bombing the game on Steam due to the inclusion of paid mods.

Bethesda boss Todd Howard did respond to this, saying it was “great feedback from the community.” Many were annoyed that Bethesda had monetised the work of fans and enthusiasts, feeling it goes against the spirit of modding.

In other news, the Elden Ring servers are down for some maintenence, but don’t worry, you can still play in offline mode.
