Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman form a reluctant duo in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Set six years after events in Deadpool 2, the film sees Wade Wilson (Reynolds) pulled out of retirement by the Time Variance Authority for a new mission to save the universe with Wolverine (Jackman).

Directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy), the superhero sequel is the first Deadpool film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney.
Other cast members include Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox, while Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, and Karan Soni reprise their roles from previous Deadpool outings.

Marvel has not confirmed whether Deadpool and Wolverine will team up again in a future outing. The film leaves the possibility open, with the pair ending as friends, but there’s no indication that they’ll set out on another joint adventure.
Speaking to Collider, Reynolds appeared to downplay the possibility, describing Deadpool & Wolverine as a “one-off”.
“The movie was not meant to be a commercial for another movie,” Reynolds said. “It was really, genuinely meant to be a true one-off.”
As for whether Jackman would reprise the role, the actor pointed to the fact that he previously ruled out the possibility after 2017’s Logan – so nothing’s off the table.
“It literally does not matter how I answer this… because I’m clearly a liar,” Jackman said. “But what’s so great about my lie is I believed it. Fully. I fully believed it.”
Director Shawn Levy, however, implied there is a chance of a sequel. “I feel like we not only had fun, but it was so creatively fulfilling. Anything’s possible.”
What about Deadpool 4?
It’s unclear whether Deadpool will receive another solo outing, but Deadpool & Wolverine suggests there’s some bigger plan for the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the film, Dr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) tells Deadpool he’s been “chosen for a higher purpose”, so it’s likely Reynolds will return to the character in some capacity.
Speaking to Variety, Reynolds said he could see himself returning as “part of an ensemble”, which might suggest an appearance in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2026.
Asked how much longer he can see himself playing Deadpool, Reynolds replied: “I don’t know. I could see any version of it. I can imagine a solo movie, being part of an ensemble. I can imagine that this is also the last time. I never feel anything other than that.”
