Kim Jaejoong is already on season 2 of his popular talk show JaeFriends, and during his most recent episode, he welcomed AT AREA co-founders, South Korean hip hop producer duo GroovyRoom.

It was Kim Jaejoong’s first time meeting GroovyRoom’s Park Gyu Jeong and Lee Hwi Min, but the producing and composing duo were fans of the show and SM Entertainment, the company Jaejoong originally trained and debuted with.

As frequent viewers of JaeFriends, the GroovyRoom duo was aware of the show’s one rule, which is to use banmal, or an informal way of speaking, despite seniority in the industry or age.
Lee Hwi Min admitted that he likes to be “very formal” and doesn’t use banmal. When Jaejoong asked him why, he explained that it just “feels better” to him, which led the 2nd gen idol to reveal what he’s noticed about Korean hip hop artists.

Jaejoong hilariously wondered why Korean hip hop artists are so polite when their lyrics are so “tough,” joking that their songs are very confident while “overexaggerating a tough past” when they “got an allowance from their parents.”
Joking aside, Park Gyu Jeong stated that there are “lots of quiet and nice people” among Korean hip hop artists and added that many are “more pure and well-mannered in person.”
