While international fans debated whether this was custom or not in the West, Korean netizens immediately expressed anger at the video. As Ahn Yujin is Korean, many felt the gesture was disrespectful and insensitive to her. Koreans stated that the fact Chris Jones is openly gay is irrelevant and does not excuse him from respecting her boundaries.

What does his sexuality have to do with it? It only matters whether or not she consented to him touching her like that. Whether he’s gay or not, I don’t like it. His sexuality has nothing to do with it. Are you saying it is okay if a man touches a woman because she reminds him of his daughter? This would be f@cking disturbing even if he was a woman. If he was going to put his hands around her, he should’ve placed them higher. What is wrong with him? But why make a gif of this? Did you make this? Unwanted contact is sexual assault, and posting this causes more harm to her.

What are your thoughts?
