The Only Two 5th Generation Boy Groups To Win #1 On Music Shows During Their Debut

The fifth generation of K-Pop is reportedly among us! A few boy groups in particular who debuted in 2023 were even able to grab their first music show win during their debut eras.

Check them out below!

1. ZEROBASEONE

ZEROBASEONE was the first boy group in their generation to win first place on a music show as soon as they debuted. They are a nine-member boy group that was formed on the Mnet survival program Boys Planet.

Kim Jiwoong, Zhang Hao, Sung Hanbin, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae, Ricky, Kim Gyuvin, Park Gunwook and Han Yujin made up the Top 9 contestants out of 98 hopefuls.

They debuted on July 10, 2023 with their first mini album Youth in the Shade. Their title track, “In Bloom,” was a refreshing pop song that showed off their charms.

They earned their first win on The Show against Kiss Of Life and Odd Eye Circle on July 18, 2023. They won by a landslide number of points, showing just how popular their single was.

Unsurprisingly, the members couldn’t hide how happy they were during the encore. They thanked their fans profusely for supporting them ever since they were on Boys Planet.

2. TWS

Besides ZEROBASEONE, the only other fifth generation boy group who won first place during their debut promotions was TWS. They are a PLEDIS Entertainment group composed of six members: Shinyu, Dohoon, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin.

They debuted on January 22, 2024 with “Plot Twist,” showcasing a boyish school concept that fit their youthful auras perfectly.

They won a few weeks later on the February 14 episode of Show Champion against (G)-DLE, NMIXX, P1Harmony, and Groovy Room.

While they didn’t win first place during their debut era, other 5th generation boy groups who did so later in their careers include RIIZE with “Love 119” and EVNNE with “UGLY.”
