5-piece multi-genre band Cosmic Roots discusses latest single “Flavas”

Cosmic Roots is a wee bit different than any other band you may have heard of.  Despite the plethora of sounds the band is capable of producing, the Sacramento based quintet seemingly moves as one.

Drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres including jazz, funk and hip-hop, Cosmic Roots combines them all — and then some — into a mesmerizing sonic journey.

The band’s five members — Xzavier, Myles, Jay, Joey and Kenan — are all about “non discriminatory love,” and that’s what “Flavas” is all about.

“The inspiration behind ‘Flavas’ is an ode to non discriminatory love, happiness and the feeling of meeting someone new and exciting,” Cosmic Roots member Jay explained, alluding to the track’s chorus: “Peanut butter, chocolate covered, it don’t matter to me / Give me all those flavas.”

Production for Cosmic Roots is handled in-house at their very own personal studio.  Engineering wise, bassist Kenan and drummer Jay normally take the reins when it comes to the final arrangement.

Cosmic Roots’ smooth tracks, virtuosic instrumentals and magnetic stage presence are doing them the world of good when it comes to getting themselves out there even more.

This incredibly talented band continues to transcend musical boundaries and improve by leaps and bounds with each release.  Be sure to stay on the lookout for their debut album, which is set to drop soon!
