Frances Bean Cobain has reportedly married Riley Hawk earlier this month.
Cobain – the daughter of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole frontwoman Courtney Love – and Hawk – the son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk – reportedly applied for a marriage license last month in San Diego county.
Though very little is known about the ceremony, marriage documents obtained by TMZ, revealed that the ceremony reportedly took place on October 7 and was officiated by R.E.M frontman and Cobain’s godfather, Michael Stipe.
This marks the second time Cobain has been married. Back in 2014, she married Isaiah Silva of The Eeries. The two divorced in 2016, just shy of two years after tying the knot. Cobain cited irreconcilable differences and stated that Silva should not be entitled to any money from her father’s estate, which was valued at $450 million (£370 million).
Silva and Cobain also ended up fighting over ownership of her father’s iconic acoustic guitar that was used during Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged special. Sliva ended up winning ownership of the famous guitar.
Meanwhile, Hawk and Cobain have been in a relationship since 2021. Cobain confirmed her relationship with Hawk in January 2022 with an Instagram post that marked her return to the social media platform and featured photos of the couple.
“I wanted to share a few moments that were captured / created this past year that brought me a great amount of joy. Here’s to hoping everyone’s 2022 is filled with the authentic connections, a lot of warmth & profound discovery of self happy new year,” read the caption of her post.
In other news, Nirvana are set to release a deluxe 30th anniversary reissue of ‘In Utero‘ on October 27. It will include three super deluxe editions that comprise a total of 72 tracks with 53 previously unreleased live tracks from some of the final live dates from Cobain, Novoselic, Dave Grohl and guitarist Pat Smear.
