The wait is over for Christina Milian fans. 25 years after its release, the singer’s breakout track “AM to PM” is finally, officially coming to YouTube. The Dave Meyers-directed clip is now available to watch on the platform, ready to remind a whole new generation why audiences fell in love with Milian in 2001.
The music video for “AM to PM” is a classic of the TRL era. The clip focuses on Milian waking up and getting ready to go out before sneaking out of the house and hiding from her mom. She hops in a car with her friends and drives to the club, where the girls are able to skip the line. After dancing the night away with her girls, Milian leaves the club and sneaks back into her home, sneaking past her still-awake dad and crawling into bed, making the expression “AM to PM” very literal.
“AM to PM” was Milian’s debut solo single, released when she was still just 19 years old. The track came on the heels of her first single, which saw her as a featured artist on the Ja Rule track “Between Me and You.” The single was a major success, introducing Milian to a more adult audience after years working on teen TV shows and for Disney. “AM to PM” was also a major success, reaching number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and going all the way to number 3 on the U.K. singles chart. “AM to PM” also kicked off a successful streak of singles in the 2000s, including memorable collaborations with rappers like Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, and Jay Z.
Even 25 years later, “AM to PM” remains a favorite for fans of Milian all over the world. The New Jersey-born singer was surprised years later to see how enthusiastic fans were as far away as New Zealand when she performed the track in 2017. “It definitely blows me away,” she told Ambient Light. “I think when I got to see even just tonight – those reactions to the songs!”
