Lyn Lapid Returns With ‘One Good Thing’

Lyn Lapid has released her new single “one good thing,” out now via Mercury Records. The release arrives alongside an official music video and marks Lapid’s first new single of 2026. Written as though she is addressing another person, “one good thing” is actually about the singer-songwriter’s relationship with making music, using the unraveling of a relationship as a metaphor for the fear, attachment, and resentment she experienced toward her creative work.

Lapid explained that the song grew from realizing her feelings about music went beyond creative burnout. “i think my relationship with music was more than just burnout, it was simultaneously a feeling of fear and resentment that it was going to consume me as if being an artist was all that i am,” she said. “i hadn’t known who i was outside of that for a while. i decided to write about that in ‘one good thing,’ speaking to my relationship with music and creating as if it were a person.” The song’s central idea examines pushing away something important out of fear before returning to it because of its familiarity.

“one good thing” opens a new chapter following Lapid’s debut album, BUZZKILL, which Mercury Records released in 2025. She subsequently released an expanded edition, BUZZKILL (forever), and took the project on a North American headline tour. Lapid has now accumulated more than one billion career streams, while her breakout single “In My Mind” has received Gold certification from the RIAA. Her catalog also includes collaborations with mxmtoon, Whethan, Ruth B, and grentperez.

Lapid joined Alex Warren’s Cheaper Than Therapy Tour in 2025 after previously supporting Eric Nam, Ricky Montgomery, and Claire Rosinkranz. Kelly Clarkson later performed Lapid’s “coraline” as part of the “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, while “take me as i am” appeared in the opening title sequence of Lionsgate’s The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Lapid has also continued her work with Ube Jams, the Los Angeles live series she launched to provide a performance platform for AAPI artists.
