Good news Jordan fans, you can now own a piece of Michael Jordan history and stand out amongst the rest as the man, the myth, the legend has decided to part ways with a sweet ride that inspired the last sneaker silhouette he wore on the hardwood floor before he retired… the first time.
According to Hypebeast, his Airness is auctioning off his customized 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello which was the inspiration for the Air Jordan 14 which he donned in Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals when he helped the Chicago Bull clinch their fifth NBA championship and left Karl Marlone and John Stockton ringless for their careers. Expected to fetch anywhere from $700,000 to $1.3 million, the car isn’t your average Ferrari as the GOAT took it upon himself to request all kinds of customizations that a big time baller would appreciate.

Jordan took delivery of the new vehicle in May 1997, specifically tailoring the Italian powerhouse to his exact aesthetic and physical dimensions. The grand tourer is cloaked in Rosso Barchetta paint, riding on chrome Speedline wheels and concealing a naturally aspirated, 485-hp Ferrari V-12 engine mated to a purist-approved gated manual transmission. To accommodate his six-foot-six frame, Ferrari uniquely modified the tan leather interior by installing longer chair rails and equipping the seats with slimmer padding. In a move of calculated understatement, Jordan also ordered the car entirely without the traditional yellow Ferrari fender shields.
If DJ Khaled ends up with the car you just know he’s going to be wearing a pair of Air Jordan 14’s every time he drives it just so he can explain the connection to any and everyone that will listen. Just saying.
