Friday, August 28, 2026 – Today, The Prince Estate, in partnership with Legacy Recordings, releases Timeless, a new posthumous Prince album featuring 10 rare and previously unreleased recordings from Prince’s legendary Vault. Available now across all major streaming platforms and in multiple physical configurations, Timeless is the first Prince release ever curated to span every major era of his career, bringing together recordings created between 1977 and 2016 in a sweeping portrait of one of music’s most innovative and influential artists.
Spanning nearly four decades of extraordinary creative output, Timeless traces Prince’s artistic evolution from his earliest studio recordings as a teenage prodigy in Minneapolis through one of his final recorded performances. Heard together for the first time, these recordings illuminate the remarkable consistency, curiosity and creative ambition that defined Prince throughout his life, an artist perpetually moving forward, experimenting and creating on his own terms.

Arriving alongside the album today is new single and music video “The Guilty Ones,” a previously unreleased recording from 2007. Recorded by Ian Boxill at Paisley Park on October 26, 2007, the track features background vocals by Marva King and Shelby J., bass by Josh Dunham and drums by Cora Coleman-Dunham, and was produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince.

The first two releases from Timeless offered an early glimpse at just how much musical and chronological ground the collection covers. “With This Tear,” Prince’s intimate 1991 recording written, produced and arranged by him, was hailed as “pure Prince” by Complex, while Rolling Stone described the previously unreleased 1995 recording “Stone,” as “forever funky.” Together, the tracks previewed the remarkable range found across Timeless, from intimate songwriting to the funk-driven experimentation that remained a hallmark of Prince’s work.
The complete collection reaches even further. Opening with “I Am You,” recorded at Minneapolis’ Sound 80 in 1977, Timelessmoves chronologically through nearly four decades of Prince’s creative life, including “Tick Tick Bang” (1981), “Heaven” (1985), “I Wonder” (1989), “With This Tear” (1991), “Stone” (1995), “Calabama” (2003), “The Guilty Ones” (2007) and “Bestest Friend” (2012) before closing with “How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore?,” recorded live at Oracle Arena in Oakland on March 4, 2016.
Rather than capturing Prince at a single moment, Timeless reveals the creative throughline that endured across his entire career. Across changing decades, genres, collaborators and musical landscapes, the collection underscores the restless imagination at the center of his work and the extraordinary breadth of music he left behind.
The collection was mixed and mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer and producer Chris James, a former Prince engineer whose credits include HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum. James’ history with the recordings extends back to the original sessions: he recorded Timeless track “Bestest Friend” at Paisley Park in 2012. Timeless was produced for compilation by L. Londell McMillan, Charles F. Spicer Jr. and Chris James, with art direction by Tora Bliss.
Timeless was first announced in June during Prince Celebration 2026, the annual gathering honoring Prince’s life, music and enduring legacy. This year’s Celebration brought fans from around the world to Paisley Park and downtown Minneapolis for performances, exclusive listening sessions, archival presentations and conversations with Prince collaborators. The occasion was recognized citywide, with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey proclaiming June 1–7 “Prince Celebration Week” and the Minneapolis skyline illuminated in purple in Prince’s honor.
Released during the 10th anniversary year of Prince’s passing, Timeless arrives amid renewed attention to his extraordinary legacy and continued influence across music and culture. Earlier this year, ahead of Celebration 2026, The New York Times and the Star Tribune explored the lasting cultural significance of Paisley Park and the global community that continues to gather around Prince’s music, while The New York Times and Billboard have recently highlighted the upcoming Broadway adaptation of Purple Rain. A decade after his passing, Timeless offers another window into that enduring legacy, bringing previously unheard chapters of Prince’s artistic journey to listeners for the first time.
