A new season of Black Mirror is on the way, and shooting started earlier this summer.

The new episodes will mark the eighth season of the hit Charlie Brooker series, and the first since season seven dropped last year.
According to a new report from Variety, shooting for the show started over the summer, although no release date has been announced at time of writing.
Brooker is back on board as a writer and executive producer, and working alongside other executive producers Bisha K.Ali. Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones, Louise Sutton, and Mark Kinsella.
Back at the start of the year, Brooker confirmed that the dystopian series would be back for season eight, telling Netflix’s Tudum podcast: “Black Mirror will return, and hopefully it’ll be more Black Mirror than ever.”

“Luckily it does have a future, so I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it,” he added. “So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”
Season seven was nominated for best television limited series and anthology series or motion picture made for television at the Golden Globes, and cast members Rashida Jones and Paul Giamatti were nominated for their acting in episodes “Common People” and “Eulogy,” respectively.

The latest season scored a glowing five-star review from NME when it dropped, with James Mottram writing: “A typically eclectic soundtrack features everything from The Stone Roses to Amyl And The Sniffers), perfectly symbolising the variety on offer across these six episodes.
“Brooker’s sharp-eyed intelligence and eerily prophetic lens on society is also very much in tune. It’s not all about the twists either. These news episodes, especially the cine-literate ‘Hotel Reverie’, merit a second viewing – but that is par for the course in the Brooker-verse. As they say in the final episode, ‘a tiger cannot change its stripes’.”
