Over the weekend, one user asked the popular AskReddit subreddit “Which videogame soundtrack is 10/10?” with over 5,800 people replying. Thanks to the ability to upvote (or downvote) responses, it’s easier to see which are the most popular answers.

With over 1,200 upvotes, the soundtrack to 2012’s top-down shooter Hotline Miami was the most-popular response. “Probably my pick for best electronic video game soundtrack of all time. It’s hypnotic and addictive,” explained one user. “Surprised to see this at the top but it absolutely deserves it,” said another.

Another popular choice was the music from 2004’s action-puzzle title Katamari Damacy.  “This game honestly has the best soundtrack ever, I’m glad so many people agree,” wrote one user. “Katamari Damacy has no business having a soundtrack that good. It’s weird, catchy and somehow makes rolling up random objects feel like the greatest thing ever,” said another.

Any of Dooms metal-inspired scores, the music of Hades and its 2025 sequel and NieR: Automata’s soundtrack are also held in high-regard by Reddit users.

Fans of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time can look forward to a full-blown remake later this year. Nintendo has kept quiet about what the remade version of the N64 classic will change, but it has described the project as a “reborn” version of the game.

The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time doesn’t have a release date yet but it’s expected to launch in November – meaning it’ll go up against Grand Theft Auto 6 which is out November 19.

In other news Chris Hays, lead services programmer at Doom developer id Software, has criticised Microsoft after the studio was hit by sweeping lay-offs last month. “Xbox fundamentally don’t understand art. They don’t understand games.”
