Geese frontman Cameron Winter has responded to speculation that he is singing under an alias on Phoebe Bridgers‘ new album ‘Lost Weekend’.

Bridgers is due to release her long-awaited third studio record next Friday (August 14) via Dead Oceans, following on from 2020’s ‘Punisher’. She has already shared its lead single, ‘Lost Boys’, and revealed the LP’s full tracklist.
Rolling Stone is among the first outlets to post a review of the imminent ‘Lost Weekend’, and suggested that Winter could have secretly contributed vocals to the project.
The publication pointed to an unknown guest named ‘Son-John Johnson’ among the credits, which also feature Bridgers’ Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, as well as her longtime collaborator Christian Lee Hutson. Jack Antonoff and Alex G provided additional production.
It is said that the mystery ‘Johnson’ is credited on two ‘Lost Weekend’ songs. He reportedly takes on backing vocals on ‘Kill Me’, and duets with Bridgers on ‘I Can’t Wait’. “All my life/ Side by side/ Hyde Jekyll Hyde/ Finally together,” they sing together on the latter.
In a separate article, Rolling Stone noted that the voice of ‘Johnson’ would sound “awfully familiar” to fans of Geese and Winter’s solo work. He is known for his distinctive vocals, with the outlet saying that his “raw falsetto is unmistakable” on Bridgers’ album.

Rolling Stone asked Winter about his apparent collaborations with Bridgers. In response, he laughed and said: “I’ll have to contact my lawyer.”
Elsewhere, a fan on Reddit shared a screenshot of the review in question, and a post showing that they had predicted a collab between the pair almost a year ago.
“Probably as a back-up or uncredited feature like in ‘Garden Song’ with her tour manager,” they wrote at the time, when guessing how Winter could be involved. “It is bound to happen!”
Meanwhile, Geese are set to appear at Reading & Leeds 2026 later this month, before headlining this year’s End Of The Road in September. They’ll also perform at Electric Picnic in Ireland.
Winter and co. are scheduled to play two gigs at Glasgow’s legendary Barrowland Ballroom, too, as well as a pair of dates at London’s Troxy. Find any remaining tickets here.
NME gave Geese’s latest album ‘Getting Killed’ a five-star review upon its release last year, hailing it as “another exhilaratingly free-spirited turn from the New York cult heroes”, and crowning it the best album of 2025.
Meanwhile, Bridgers is heading out on the road later this year in support of ‘Lost Weekend’, with ‘The Lost Tour’ kicking off in North America in September before heading to the UK and Europe in November and December.
The singer-songwriter has confirmed that there will be a “no phones” rule at all upcoming concerts, with phones and other recording devices locked away during the performances.
