Talk Talk have announced the 40th anniversary reissue of ‘The Colour Of Spring’, cut at half speed.

The day before they’re set to reunite for their one-off anniversary gig, the band will officially reissue their seminal third studio album. ‘The Colour Of Spring’ marks a turning point in the band’s discography, away from synths and new wave and into a more experimental, art-rock direction.
Previously, Talk Talk have reissued their classic ‘Spirit Of Eden’ at half-speed, too, with drummer Lee Harris and Mark Hollis’ son, Charlie, overseeing the reissue’s production.
Now, Harris and Charlie have teamed up once again for ‘The Colour Of Spring’ and its reissue, which was cut by Matt Colton on 180g vinyl at Metropolis Studios. The album will drop on September 4 – pre-order/pre-save here and see the full tracklisting below:

The remaining band members of Talk Talk will soon reunite to play an anniversary show for ‘The Colour Of Spring’.
On September 5, musicians including Simon Brenner, the group’s founding keyboardist, as well as Phil Ramocon and Ian Curnow, will perform at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town.
They will be joined on stage by Sophie Barker (Zero 7), Gale Paridjanian (Turin Brakes), Tim Eisenburg (Sweet Billy Pilgrim), Chris Hampson and Jacob Brown. There will also be guest collaborations on the night, including from Ed Harcourt and Guillemots’ Fyfe Dangerfield, who will both also play support sets, and Ride’s Mark Gardener.
Frontman Mark Hollis died from cancer in February 2019 at the age of 64.

Elsewhere, a petition has been launched to save London’s legendary Battery Studios from demolition. The studios produced classics such as Iron Maiden‘s ‘Killers’ (1981) and ‘The Number of the Beast’ (1982), Talk Talk‘s ‘The Colour Of Spring’ (1986) and The Cars‘ ‘Heartbeat City’ (1984), amongst hundreds of other albums.
