Hardcore band End It have tried to put their feud with “Banana Man” to bed following controversy – inviting another fan in a banana outfit on-stage.
The Baltimore hardcore band made headlines after a gig at Lithuanian House in Toronto on June 5, when frontman Akil Godsey singled out a fan in the crowd who was wearing a banana costume.
In footage shared from the night, Godsey accused the fan of seeking attention, and offered the band’s setlist to anyone who would “strip the banana” – provoking members of the crowd to shred the fans’ costume.
The fan later called out the band on Instagram, writing that he had been “an unwilling participant” and that his clothing had been removed “at the direction of a band I paid to see”, and after remaining largely quiet, the singer later retaliated and stated that he did not want to apologise for doing “hardcore things” as a “hardcore band”.
“You’ve obviously not been listening to the band, and I don’t know what the fuck you thought was going on over here,” he said. “We’re a hardcore band. We do hardcore things.”

Now, the band have seemingly tried to quiet discussion about the situation once and for all by inviting another fan in a banana outfit on stage and hugging it out.
At their set at the Jera on Air festival in Ysselsteyn in the Netherlands on June 27, the band invited the fan on stage and quipped that they never expected the original incident to gain so much traction.
“Who would’ve thought doing something stupid at a show would get me a month of attention?,” Godsey said, before later sharing footage online and calling the moment “The great Banana Treaty of Ysselsteyn.”
The latest antics on stage also caught the original “Banana Man” who was tagged by fans online, and responded simply saying “Yea, nah.”
He also clarified in a couple of comment sections that he hasn’t profited from the ordeal, writing: “A few show tickets have come my way from it. But I’m really more interested in socialising over this than capitalising on it.”
End It formed in Baltimore in 2017, and their debut album ‘Wrong Side Of Heaven’ was released last August via Flatspot Records.
