The huge show will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (June 20), and comes in support of their latest album, ‘The Mountain’.
Already, Damon Albarn and co. have kicked off their live dates with some warm-up shows in Bradford, and commenced on their UK and Ireland tour in March, which includes shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and more.
Now, the tour is coming to London, and this weekend’s stop at Tottenham Hotspur stadium will mark the band’s first ever stadium headline show.
Support will come from Sparks and Trueno, and today (Monday, June 15), the band have confirmed a list of guest performers who will join them on stage during their one-off London headline set.
There are 22 artists confirmed as joining Gorillaz during their set, and most collaborated with the band on songs across ‘The Mountain’ tracklist. Names include Johnny Marr – who featured on ‘The Plastic Guru’ and ‘The Empty Dream Machine’ – as well as Black Thought (who featured on ‘The Sad God’ and ‘The Empty Dream Machine’), and Asha Puthli (‘The Moon Cave’).
Anoushka Shankar will be joining the band on stage too, having featured on ‘The Mountain’, ‘The Moon Cave’, ‘Orange County’, ‘The Empty Dream Machine’, ‘The Plastic Guru’, ‘The Sweet Prince’, and ‘The Sad God’, and so will openers Sparks and Trueno – who featured on ‘The Happy Dictator’ and ‘The Manifesto’ respectively.
Others joining the London show as special guests include Little Simz who featured on ‘Humanz’ song ‘Garage Palace’, The Clash’s Paul Simonon who featured on the ‘Plastic Beach’ title track, and Shaun Ryder who famously starred on fan-favourite track ‘Dare’.

Earlier this year, Albarn and co. appeared on The Graham Norton Show to perform the single ‘Orange Country’, and the frontman – famously a Chelsea F.C. supporter – jokingly refused to say the name of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the band were playing, simply referring to it as a “large music venue in North London”.
As well as headline UK gigs, the band have had festival slots lined up at Electric Picnic, Primavera Sound Barcelona and Porto, and Rock Werchter, and also confirmed their first ever India tour dates.
‘The Mountain’ was given a four-star review from NME, which described it as “an album that celebrates the love you leave behind, the people you touch, the spirit of giving more than you take, how we’re all the same when it’s done.”
