Barry Can’t Swim is back, and has dropped the new summer-ready single ‘Return To Bhibo’ – check it out below.
The track arrives today (Friday May 29) and marks some of the first new music from the Edinburgh-born producer and DJ in 2026.
From the start, the track captures a euphoric and emotionally charged energy throughout, and holds the same charm that first put him on the map as an essential to contemporary dance music.
‘Return To Bhibo’ also arrives shortly after Barry Can’t Swim played two huge US festival performances at Lightning In A Bottle and Movement last weekend, and began dropping hints at new music.
At the start of the year, the Scottish dance music star announced his own ‘Late Night Tales’ compilation, and shared the single ‘Chala (My Soul Is On A Loop)’ to accompany it.
That series launched in 2001 and has featured some impressive curators over the years, including Four Tet, Fatboy Slim, Belle & Sebastian, MGMT, Metronomy, Franz Ferdinand, Jon Hopkins and Hot Chip.
His mix, which arrived in time for the series’ 25 anniversary, dropped in March and included some of his own material, including ‘Sometimes I Feel So Alone’.
Barry Can’t Swim released his second studio album ‘Loner’ last year, including the singles ‘Still Riding’, ‘The Person You’d Like To Be’, ‘Different’ and ‘Kimpton’.
‘Loner’ followed the producer’s 2023 debut LP ‘When Will We Land?’, and speaking about the sophomore album in a press release, the DJ shared: “If my first album was a collage of all the music I loved and was inspired by growing up, then this album is the most authentic expression I could offer of myself and my life over the past year.”
He also curated his own line-up for a day at All Points East in 2025, and his line-up included stacked performances from the likes of Orbital, Avalon Emerson, The Blessed Madonna, Confidence Man and Shygirl.
