The creators of Toy Story 5 have shut down widespread rumours that Taylor Swift has written a track for the ending credits of the film.

Rumours sparked earlier this month, when the pop star briefly posted a cryptic countdown on her website. The timer was set to run out on May 2 at 2pm, but was taken down before it had a chance to be completed.
While it wasn’t explicitly mentioned what the countdown was for, some fans were convinced that it could be a collaboration between the singer and the upcoming Toy Story film. This was mainly due to the colour scheme of the website and its inclusion of Toy Story-esque clouds, as well as the choice of font and both having the initials ‘TS’.
Others dissected her recent outfits, highlighting how she had been wearing a horseshoe necklace recently, and dressing primarily in sky blue, white, yellow, and red – colours frequently seen across the franchise.

Now, with Toy Story 5 set to arrive in cinemas on June 19, creators have addressed the viral rumours of a collaboration, and confirmed that the singer has not contributed to the soundtrack.
Speaking at the Pixar headquarters, director Andrew Stanton, co-director McKenna Harris and producer Lindsey Collins said that they were “surprised” to see the rumours getting so much momentum and added that they were “honoured” that people were convinced that the pop star would want to write new music for the movie (via USA Today).
“It would be pretty amazing,” Collins said, before Stanton clarified that Swift has not contributed to the ending song. “The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week, and the song on the end was not Taylor Swift,” he said.

The film is produced by Pixar for Walt Disney Pictures, and comes seven years after Toy Story 4. Since then, there has been a spin off film called Lightyear, which arrived in cinemas four years ago and traced Buzz’s backstory.
Swift’s last album was 2025′ ‘The Life of a Showgirl‘, which was inspired by her experience on her record-breaking ‘Eras’ tour. It soon became the best-selling album of that year in the UK – making Swift the first artist to have the top seller in consecutive years for different albums since ABBA in 1977.
Since the album’s release, Swift has become the youngest female artist to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, invited Graham Norton, Lewis Capaldi, and Cillian Murphy for her ‘Opalite’ music video, and filed to trademark her own voice and image after growing concerns about AI.
