It’s been reported that the new Call Of Duty game will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Back in 2023, Microsoft announced a ten-year deal with Nintendo that meant Switch owners would be able to play future Call Of Duty games “the same day as Xbox, with full feature and content parity”. The agreement was part of Microsoft’s $68.7billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
The team behind Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 did say they were “working” on bringing the game to the Switch 2 but it’s still not available to play on Nintendo consoles, and neither is Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6.
It’s now been reported that this year’s Call Of Duty game, the latest in the beloved Modern Warfare series, could be coming to the Switch 2.
At the end of last year, Call Of Duty developers Sledgehammer Games shared a job advert for a Senior Technical Artist with “AAA mobile or Switch experience” while insider Jez Corden claimed the franchise would launch on Nintendo consoles in 2026 following a reported delay in Activision getting development kits.

Yesterday (May 27) a blurry version of what looks like the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 cover art was shared on the gaming leaks and rumours Reddit page. “This should be the first COD game on Nintendo Switch 2,” replied one user. “Yes,” confirmed insider NateTheHate.
Last week it was confirmed that the 2026 edition of Call Of Duty would be a new instalment in the Modern Warfare series. “Yes, we are making the definitive Modern Warfare,” game developers Infinity Ward wrote on social media.
“We build visceral, immersive combat experiences that hit different,” they continued in a blog post. “As a new chapter begins for this studio, we’re focused on what defines us – passion, precision, obsession and an unrelenting drive to make the best entertainment in the industry. Our next game is the result of that mindset. Determined. Bold. Relentless. Built by a team pushing every detail, every system, every moment to its limit.”
The release date and official title for the new Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is still to be announced. Usually new entries in the franchise are released in the middle of November but Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch November 19 so that might change this year.
In other news, a new immersive Pokémon experience is set to launch in Europe next year that will allow fans to “step into the role of a trainer”.
