The film is a love letter to the musical history of the city, with local favourites Blossoms appearing in a cameo as the house band for the university’s end of year ball, and the city’s legendary Piccadilly Records playing a key role in the film.

It stars Spike Fearn (Ella McCay, Alien: Romulus) as young musician Owen, who meets his dream girl at the Student Union, only to realise that she has accidentally given him the wrong phone number. All he knows is her first name, so he reaches out to every Emily on campus, an ill-advised mission that leads him to Angourie Rice’s character. She promises to assist him, but unbeknownst to him, she has an ulterior motive.

The film also features Minnie Diver, as well as a host of British comics including Phil Wang and Fiona Allen, and comes from the producers of Love Actually, as well as writer Rachel Hirons (Kiss Me First) and director Alicia MacDonald (Too Much).

It was released into UK cinemas on Friday (May 22), and currently sits on a perfect 100 per cent critics rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes
