Global Phenomenon TAEMIN Unleashes “PERMISSION” and Powers Into a New Era

Hot off his history making Coachella performance, TAEMIN has officially unleashed his single “PERMISSION” on May 22, the standout record he debuted to massive fan buzz at the festival.

Touted as one of the scene stealing artists at Coachella, TAEMIN has ascended to the global spotlight with anticipation skyrocketing for the new music he performed. The album cover illustration – depicting TAEMIN breaking “permission” himself to symbolize that he no longer needs anyone’s permission – was inspired by his Coachella outfit, visually capturing this new era of confidence and self-direction.

“PERMISSION” hits with a hypnotic edge: dark, sleek, and quietly commanding. A taut, pulsing tension runs through the track, drawing you in as the beat moves with razor-sharp precision. TAEMIN’s vocal performance glides between control and raw vulnerability, forming in just enough angst to create a magnetic push-and-pull you can’t turn away from.  “PERMISSION” is a bold declaration to take control of your life and no longer needing anyone else’s permission.

Above all, the message behind the song is powerful, reflecting TAEMIN’s autobiographical perspective on choosing and leading his own life. The recurring lyric, “Don’t need no permission,” serves as a firm declaration of freedom from the standards and control imposed by others, underscoring his determination to move forward entirely on his own terms.

This record was produced by JORDi (David Guetta, Teddy Swims, Snoop Dogg) and written by JHart (Justin Bieber, OneRepublic, Usher, Charlie Puth, Illenium), Rachel West (aespa, Young Thug), and TAEMIN.

“PERMISSION” is the first release following his widely talked-about Coachella performance. The digital single is now available on all streaming platforms.

Meanwhile, TAEMIN will participate in SHINee’s 6th mini album “Atmos’ set to release on June 1.
