Jack White has reacted to the new golden statue of Donald Trump that has been erected in Florida – touching on how it fits in with what he considers the “most frustrating part of modern American life”.

The 22-foot statue depicts the US president thrusting his fist into the air, reminiscent of the gesture he did after the assassination attempt at a 2024 rally in Pennsylvania.
It was unveiled at his golf course in Doral, Florida, at a ceremony presided over by Evangelical pastor Mark Burns – who previously described the president as divinely appointed (as per The Independent).
At the ceremony, the statue had white and blue fabric draped over it, similar to that of a Greek toga, and Burns held up his phone to the microphone to play a message from Trump.
“I want to thank Mark Burns. He’s a good pastor, he’s a good man,” the president was heard saying. “I’ve known him a long time, he’s been with me right from the beginning, maybe about two days later… I want to thank everybody there. I know it was done from love.”
Speaking to The Times at the start of the year, sculptor Alan Cottrill revealed that he agreed to make the sculpture in bronze for $300,000 (£221,800), and was the one to propose covering it in gold leaf – something he said went down like offering water “to a person dying of thirst”.

Now, Jack White has taken to social media to criticise the statue and what it says about the unwavering loyalty some have towards the president.
Sharing an image of the sculpture, White wrote on Instagram: “The most frustrating part of modern American life is the attempt to make sense of people who don’t even CARE that they make no sense at all.”
As highlighted by Rolling Stone, the White Stripes star was raised Catholic and is well versed in Judeo-Christian theology, and his comments seem to allude to what the Bible says about worshiping false idols.
Burns has been quick to shut down claims that the statue is making Trump into a false idol.
He took to X/Twitter to write: “Let me be clear: this is not a golden calf. This statue is a celebration of life. It is a symbol of resilience, freedom, patriotism, strength, and the will power to keep fighting for the future of America.”
Today at Trump National Doral Miami, history was made.
I was deeply honored to lead the dedication event for President Donald J. Trump and the unveiling of the 22-foot statue created in his honor.

This is far from the first time that there has been a statue of Trump that has been unveiled during his time in office. Two of the more controversial statues have included one called ‘Best Friends Forever’ which depicts him with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and one called ‘King Of The World’, which shows the two of them striking the iconic pose from Titanic.
Both of them were made by protest group Secret Handshake and taken down quickly after being installed (via The Independent).
Jack White has also hit out at Trump numerous times already, and recently criticised him for both sharing a meme depicting himself as Jesus Christ and launching a verbal attack on Pope Leo.
“How can any so-called Christian support him after this blasphemy? How could any Catholic support him after he attacks the character of their Pope multiple times? How did so many millions of people fall for this conman?” White wrote.
“He’s already got worst President in the history of America on lock, but I’m gonna go ahead and take the honour of pronouncing Trump ‘Worst American of All Time’.”
Before then, the singer-songwriter hit out at Trump over his military campaign in Iran, and mocked him for being the leader of the Board of Peace.
He has previously called for him to be removed from office after a racist meme was shared on his Truth Social account, depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes. On top of that, in January White poked fun at Trump’s rambling anniversary press conference, and was one of many celebrities to condemn the POTUS for his comments regarding the death of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle.
The singer, songwriter and guitarist has also criticised the Treasury Department’s plans to put Trump‘s signature on all new US paper currency, and described him as a “manipulative, loophole finding, egomaniacal, conman”.
