BTS have made ARMYs emotional after opening up about the hardships of their 2018 contract renewal.

In 2023, netizens couldn’t hide their happiness when it was announced that BTS had renewed their contracts with HYBE.

Yet, back in 2018, the members went through a similar process when they were set to renew their contracts for the first time since debuting.
On December 20, the first episodes of BTS’s documentary BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star were released. Ahead of the episodes, fans had teasers showing what they could expect, whether it was from before they debuted and the tough times after they became global stars.

In particular, during the first episodes, they discussed their past contract renewal. V started by explaining that there were a long of discussions about whether to renew or not, and it would’ve included the members and those in the company.

Meanwhile, Jin unsurprisingly pointed out that the company wanted all the members to resign. Yet, he explained that while it was a good proposal, the members had different opinions about the future.

Suga was really honest when he explained that with all the pressures they had, the members “had thought a lot about quitting.”

V, in particular, broke netizens’ hearts when he revealed that the pressure was so much that he cried with the members, specifically pointing out the times he did it with Jungkook and J-Hope.

Jin added that all the pressure came from the fact that they never knew how much attention they’d get when they debuted and the struggles that come with it.

Suga rightly pointed out that they had nobody to ask for advice because only the seven members knew about it. It was because of this that everything piled up, and the members became burned out.

While the members of BTS seem to be living the dream as one of the biggest groups in the world, the members weren’t without their hardships and pressures that made even the best of dreams seem tough.
