Saturday Night Live UK with return for a second series, broadcaster Sky has confirmed.
The British incarnation of US TV institution Saturday Night Live debuted in March 2026 with an eight episode run that concludes on May 16. Thus far, episodes have been hosted by Aimee Lou Wood, Nicola Coughlan, and Riz Ahmed among others, while music guests have included Kasabian, Foo Fighters, and MEEK.
Today (Thursday May 7), a press release confirmed that the show will return for series two with an extended 12-episode run from Autumn 2026 to early 2027. Lorne Michaels, who created the original Saturday Night Live and is executive producer on the UK show, shared his excitement in a statement.
“I’m incredibly proud of our team and the show,” he said. “It keeps getting better every week. I’m grateful to Sky for believing in and supporting SNL UK. I’m excited for the season ahead.”
Phil Edgar Jones OBE, Sky’s Executive Director of Unscripted Originals, added: “It’s fair to say people doubted SNL would work in the UK, but thanks to Lorne Michaels, his longtime Saturday Night Live producing team and [production company] UTAS UK, alongside our brilliant cast and writers, SNL UK is Sky’s most talked about show of the year. It’s now firmly part of the cultural conversation and we’re thrilled the show will be returning in the Autumn.”
Two more episodes remain of the first season – May 9 sees Hannah Waddingham host with music from Myles Smith, while the May 16 finale will be Doctor Who actor Ncuti Gatwa with a performance from Holly Humberstone. All episodes are available on Sky, as well as streaming service NOW.
Despite initial mixed reviews, SNL UK has proved a success for the broadcaster, and made headlines by satirising several recent news headlines such as a speech by US First Lady Melania Trump and the Kanye West Wireless controversy.
Guest Aimee Lou Wood also got some closure hosting an episode of the show, following a falling out with the American version for a sketch which she called “cruel and unfunny”.
