The South African amapiano star – born Tyla Laura Seethal – made a splash with her debut self-titled record in 2024, off the back of her giant global hit ‘Water’ the year before. That album made her the highest-charting African female solo artist in the history of the Billboard albums chart.
Now, the double Grammy winner has announced the follow-up LP, titled ‘A*POP’ and due for release on July 24 via Since ‘93 / RCA UK. You can pre-order/pre-save your copy here. The album is set to include her 2025 singles ‘Is It’ and ‘Chanel’, and she has just released the song ‘She Did It Again’, featuring Zara Larsson.
Tyla has shared a trailer for the new album, in which Tyla speaks about the “unapologetic”, “confident” and “global” outlook that she is taking in this phase of her career. Watch here:

At the Grammys in February, Tyla spoke about the album, saying: “I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so…Tyla.”
At that awards show, she picked up the prize for Best African Music Performance for ‘Push 2 Start’, from the deluxe version of her debut album.
Last summer, she also released her ‘WWP’ mixtape, which NME awarded four stars and noted: “‘WWP’ might not make any grand statements, but Tyla doesn’t need to. She’s worked hard for this life, and now, she’s just dancing to its tune.”
Debut album ‘Tyla’ also scored four stars. “Through sheer faith and tenacity, Tyla anoints herself as South Africa’s brightest new star, reinforcing that amapiano was never a ‘moment’ – and only ever a true movement,” the NME review read.
Tyla’s success has contributed to the growing surge of non-English pop music that is making its way onto Spotify charts, with 16 different languages making the streamer’s Global Top 50 for 2025.
She also appeared on Cardi B’s long-awaited second album ‘Am I The Drama?’, released last September.
