Splatoon spin-off Raiders was first unveiled last year as an exclusive Switch 2 title and now Nintendo has revealed more about the single-player “action focused” shooter.

Splatoon Raiders will launch July 23. The digital edition of the game will set you back £41.99 while the physical is priced at £49.99.

“Play as the mechanic, working with Deep Cut – a trio of swashbuckling musicians – and venture out into the mysterious Spirhalite Islands in search of treasure! Customise your character, kit yourself out with mechanical Gadgets and a host of ink-flinging weapons, and take on waves of foes called Salmonids,” reads an official description of Splatoon Raiders. “A member of Deep Cut will accompany you in a powerful construct called the Exploration Bot to help fend off enemies and gather up the loot! Bring your haul back to camp, upgrade your gear, then head out on the hunt for even more treasure!”

Splatoon Raiders has been described as a single-player title but Nintendo has also confirmed a multiplayer mode. “Splatoon Raiders can also be played with up to three other players, either online or via local wireless, so you can gather up your squad and embark on the raids with friends.” Check out the new trailer below:

The original Splatoon was released in 2018 for the WiiU. The futuristic, cartoon shooter takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth and focuses on a turf war between the squid-like Inklings and the octopus-inspired Octolings. Two more games have been released in the paint shooting series, and Raiders is the first spin-off.

Earlier this year, Nintendo confirmed it would be charging less for digital games. “This change simply reflects the different costs associated with producing and distributing each format and offers players more choice in how they can buy and play Nintendo games,” they explained in a press release. The change will start with next month’s Yoshi And The Mysterious Book and continue with Splatoon Raiders.

In other news, Microsoft has made Xbox Game Pass cheaper after last year’s massive price hike.
