An Elden Ring movie adaptation written and directed by Alex Garland was confirmed last year. The film will be created by acclaimed studio A24 in partnership with publishers Bandai Namco and the game’s original creators FromSoftware.  “We’re truly excited to bring the world of Elden Ring to fans in a new form, outside the game,” read a statement. “Stay tuned. The path ahead is only beginning.”

Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA will produce the film alongside Game Of Thrones author George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis.

It’s now been confirmed that the Elden Ring movie will hit cinemas March 3, 2028. The full cast has also been announced though their roles are still being kept secret.

A24 have not shared any information about the plot of the Elden Ring movie, though Banda Namco have shared a brief description of the hugely-successful open-world game on the film’s website. “Created under the guidance of FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki, based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin, this action RPG debuted in 2022. It allows players to explore vast environments and dungeons to discover the unknown and enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes from overcoming obstacles and challenges.”

According to a 2025 report by The New Yorker, A24’s head of film Noah Sacco visited Garland at his London home where the superfan showed him the Elden Ring video game. Garland then asked if A24 would be interested in a movie adaptation. “Fuck yeah,” was Sacco’s response. After that, Garland created an “epic” 160-page draft script and took that, alongside a further 40 pages of images, to Japan to get the blessing of Elden Ring’s creators.

In other news, the beloved soundtrack to cult favourite Dave The Diver is getting a vinyl release.
