Bryan Cranston has mocked Shia LaBeouf in a recent interview, telling the actor to “get some help”
The comments came while the actor was promoting TV reboot Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, with co-star Frankie Muniz. In a discussion with the actor with Esquire, Muniz recalled how he almost played the character of Stanley in 2003 family film Holes, which ultimately went to LaBeouf and launched his career.
“I was signed to be in the movie Holes, and it was 100% about to start filming, and then [Agent] Cody Banks was greenlit. They were like, ‘Which one do you want to do?’” Muniz remembered. “I immediately picked Agent Cody Banks, but I remember everyone pushing me to do ‘Holes’ because of the story, and it’s a little more dramatic. Shia LaBeouf ended up doing it, and it kind of catapulted his movie career.”
He continued: “I wonder what my career or life would’ve been [had I done Holes instead],” Muniz added. “What could’ve come with it? Would I have been taken more seriously as an actor?” Cranston replied “You could’ve had Shia LaBeouf’s life,” before giving a mocking laugh and sarcastic whistle. He then instructed the film crew: “Keep that one in. Shia, get some help!”
Shia LaBeouf has experienced numerous legal issues in the past few years, and has made headlines many times for seemingly erratic behaviour. The actor was recently ordered to attend rehab and undergo a drug testing program following his arrest in New Orleans in February. The Transformers star had been visiting for Mardi Gras, and was described by locals as “terrorising” the city. Commenting on the incident, he remarked: “jail be another adventure”.
The actor’s former partner, FKA Twigs, counter-sued him late last month over a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) relating to the settlement that ended a legal battle between the couple first filed in 2020.
