Fact Check: Did Ice Spice Make Her K-Pop Music Show Debut?

Ice Spice‘s rap career began in 2021 but with the release of her 2022 hit song “Munch (Feelin’ U),” which went viral on TikTok, the American rapper’s career skyrocketed.

She’s since collaborated with massive stars, including Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, and fellow rising star and English singer-songwriter PinkPantheress, who is known for her love of K-Pop.

PinkPantheress and Ice Spice released their joint single, “Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2,” earlier this year.

The collab also gained significant traction on TikTok and became a Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 charting hit.

Through the collaboration, PinkPantheress showed Ice Spice her favorite K-Pop group, NCT 127, and had Ice Spice choose her bias.

At first glance, Ice Spice chose Taeyong, leading many fans in the comments to hope for an Ice Spice x NCT or Ice Spice x K-Pop crossover.

Fast forward ten months from when Ice Spice chose her NCT 127 bias, a viral TikTok showed the American rapper making her MBC Show! Music Core debut, complete with an iconic ending fairy moment and a brief appearance by former Show! Music Core MC, NCT’s Jungwoo… but did she actually appear on the show?

With over 364,800 likes and counting in less than 24 hours, the TikTok video had many K-Pop fans asking, “Is this real??” while others vowed to help “Ice Spice unnie” achieve her first music show win.

As the video circulated, it appeared on X (formerly known as Twitter), where it earned an equally impressive number of views, with netizens just as confused about the authenticity of the video.

The video, however, was edited and came from Ice Spice’s Saturday Night Live performance in October.

Although fake, it had quite a few people convinced she had really made her Korean music show debut.

With K-Pop artists increasingly releasing global collaborations, perhaps Ice Spice’s K-Pop music show debut will happen one day!
