The world’s first Minecraft theme park is set to open in the UK next year as part of Chessington World Of Adventure.

Minecraft World was announced at this afternoon’s ‘Minecraft Live’ event. The theme park will be part of Chessington World Of Adventure, which is located in Greater London.
According to a press release, the £50million project will be inspired by the game’s most iconic biomes, mobs, and items and feature a number of Minecraft-themed attractions including “a thrilling world first coaster, interactive adventures, epic block built playscapes, and themed retail and dining.”
As part of the development, Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have collaborated with “a selection of iconic Minecraft creators to help bring the universe to life in the most authentic way possible.” The Minecraft World groundbreaking event featured streamers LDShadowLady, DanTDM, Aimsey and Grian.

“Minecraft World represents a meaningful milestone in our ongoing journey to expand the Minecraft universe,” said Torfi Frans Ólafsson, Senior Creative Director of Entertainment at Minecraft in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Merlin Entertainments to realise a place where you can literally be in the Minecraft Overworld and have an adventure of your own with your family and friends. The team at Merlin Entertainments and Mojang have worked hard to craft an experience that feels immersive, authentic and welcoming, and we can’t wait for our community to experience it.”

The collaboration between Mojang and Merlin Entertainment was first announced back in 2024, with two Minecraft-themed attractions planned to open either in the UK or the US.
Minecraft World is set to open at some point in 2027. The same year, the untitled A Minecraft Movie sequel will hit cinemas. The film will see the return of Jason Momoa (Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison), Jack Black (Steve), Danielle Brooks (Dawn), Matt Berry (Villager) and Jennifer Coolidge (Marlene). Last week it was confirmed that Kirsten Dunst would be joining the cast as Alex, after revealing last year that her sons loved the original.
In other news, ambitious open-world game Crimson Desert was released on Friday (March 20) but is getting mixed reviews from gaming fans.
