The biggest surprise during the hour-long showcase was that Keanu Reeves will be reprising his role as mega assassin John Wick in a new video game. The untitled game has been developed by Sabre Interactive who have worked “closely” with John Wick director Chad Stahelski.

The game is expected to be a prequel but all Sony have told fans is that “it is an original gameplay narrative that addresses a significant time in John Wick’s life, featuring well-known and iconic characters, as well as compelling new characters specifically created for this production.”

The release date is still to be confirmed but you can check out the gun-fu violence in action via a first-look trailer.

After being first revealed back in 2022, Silent Hill fans got their first proper look at upcoming game Townfall during the State Of Play.

“While the story and setting may differ from Silent Hill 2 or Silent Hill f, this game will still retain the feeling of Silent Hill that players are familiar with,” explained series producer Motoi Okamoto. “A rich narrative, challenging puzzles and moments of quick-thinking during stealth come together to craft a truly artisan experience. This game shines as one of the most aesthetic and sophisticated entries in the series.”

Elsewhere during the first State Of Play 2026, the PC launch of Death Stranding 2: On The Death was confirmed for March 19, new story trailers for Resident Evil Requiem (here) and 007: First Light (here) were shared while Star Wars: Galactic Racer got a new gameplay trailer (here).

A second Metal Gear Solid Master Collection is set to launch August 27 and will bring together classics Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.

Legends, an online multiplayer spin-off of Ghost Of Yotei, will release March 10 as a free download. According to a blog post, Legends will launch with three mission types. “In Survival, you can team up with up to three other players to take down waves of increasingly difficult enemies on one of four maps. In Story, you’ll team up with another player to tackle a series of 12 missions [and ‘in April we’ll release a Raid putting your team to the ultimate test, where you can expect to take on the Dragon and Lord Saito himself.”

In more nostalgic news, a remake of Legacy Of Kain is set to launch next month, a 30th anniversary Rayman collection is out now and the first three God Of War games are being remade. While there’s no release date for the God Of War remakes, side-scrolling prequel game Sons Of Sparta is out now.

In other news, the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne soundtrack is being released on vinyl.
