On February 11, JIWOO of KARD has released her first solo EP, “(EX)IST,”
The album begins with the Jeon Jiwoo of the ‘past,’ and, through countless years and experiences, vividly etches her ‘existence’ as a solo artist. Comprised of tracks that fully reveal Jeon Jiwoo’s full spectrum: an androgynous yet sensual allure, a bold seduction born from a dominant attitude, an energy that fuels explosive nighttime excitement, and a weighty, yet gentle, comforting weight. This album is the culmination of a narrative that has been building for years.
‘Home Sweet Home’ is a song where Jeon Jiwoo’s voice, straddling the boundaries of R&B and alternative pop, reaches into the night like a breath. From the whispered introduction to the rhythmically shifting bridge, her voice becomes an instrument in itself, portraying honest instincts. A deep tension lingers until the end of the night, and in a space where boundaries have collapsed, a deep desire fills the darkened house.
“Home Sweet Home”
‘Mutual’ is a dance-pop track that combines upbeat synths, dreamy plucks, and trap drops. Over a crisp beat, Jeon Jiwoo’s cool tone and deep charisma dominate the relationship. Confident in knowing what each other wants, emotions are revealed without need for hiding. Instead of the tension of push and pull, honesty creates a sense of pleasure. The air of this night is clear, and the emotions are already directed towards each other.
“I know the feeling is mutual.”
‘Dang Dong (feat. BM of KARD)’ is an uptempo New Jersey-style track with funky synth sounds over an addictive bass line and rhythmic beat. The repetitive chorus and addictive hook instantly ignite the energy. The attraction begins the moment their eyes meet, a short but vivid night. Amidst the escalating heat, any hesitation fades, and the two’s party reaches its climax. This moment, when everything falls into place perfectly.
“Come on, get a little crazy”
‘Lily’ is a song that quietly blossomed from a desire to remain as an undying presence. A warm guitar riff and restrained rhythm, complemented by sweet piano and Jeon Ji-woo’s vocals, offer a warm sense of comfort. “Lily” is a song that conveys both comfort for someone and the process of self-comfort. A quietly shared heart doesn’t linger, but returns, lingering as we hold each other. Even in moments of turmoil, we will remain undiminished, protecting each other’s light.
“I’ll be the bloom that will never change.”
9 years after my debut, I finally have my solo album.
This means everything to me 🥹
Please stream it a lot and show it lots of love 💙
Every stream truly helps.
And don’t skip the b-sides — they’re insane!!
