The gig in question was hosted by comedian, podcaster, and musician Dean Delray, as he celebrated his 60th birthday on Tuesday (February 3) in Hollywood.
Delray has fronted a tribute band to the rock icon in the past, with other members including Alice In Chains’ Mike Inez, Black Crowes‘ Steve Gorman, Protein’s Josh Zee, and Jetboy’s Billy Rowe.
To celebrate his birthday this year, he threw a star-studded tribute to late AC/DC singer Bon Scott at the Avalon venue, with those same bandmates joining him, as well as an impressive roster of other talent.
Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme performed at the event, breaking out an impressive cover of ‘Night Prowler’ – the closing track to AC/DC’s iconic ‘Highway To Hell’ LP.
Also in attendance was Gene Simmons, with the KISS legend breaking out a rendition of the AC/DC track ‘Deuce’, as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Rage Against The Machine‘s Brad Wilk, The Kills’ Alison Mossheart, Primus’ Ler Lalonde, and Tool’s Justin Chancellor.
There were also live comedy acts performing on the night, including a set from Bill Burr. Introducing the night, was Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman and Burr’s half-brother, Billy Corgan.

As well as Inez, Gorman and co. were also joined by Anthrax’s Scott Ian in the past for Delray’s Bon Scott tribute band, but the metal artist was not in attendance for the 2026 event.
The tribute to the AC/DC star has been ongoing for years now, with Delray hosting other star-studded events in the past that have included appearances from Nine Inch Nails and former Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese, Slayers’ Dave Lombardo, actor Juliette Lewis, and more.
Bon Scott died in February 1980 due to acute alcohol poisoning.
As for other Josh Homme news, last year saw Queens Of The Stone Age released Alive In The Catacombs – a film that captured their unique performance in the underground tombs of Paris in July 2024.
It received a limited cinematic release before being made available to purchase on the band’s website and online for free, and the band also celebrated it by heading out on a tour of the UK, Europe and North America – recreating the intimate aesthetic of the film and were joined by a string section.
The final of the UK dates was at London’s Royal Albert Hall in October, where they aired new material and were joined by Matt Berry for a stripped-back and emotional set. Check out footage and photos from the show here.
Going into 2026, fans are expecting the band to drop the follow-up to ‘In Times New Roman’ later this year, and Homme and co. are also set to return to the road with stadium support dates with System Of A Down in the UK and Europe and Foo Fighters in North America. Visit here for remaining tickets to UK dates.
