Released under the Minecraft Education banner, the ‘Lessons In Good Trouble’ expansion is free to download and recreates vital moments in the civil rights movement.

Featuring John Lewis, Martin Luther King Jr., Malala Yousafzai, Nelson Mandela, Emmeline Pankhurst and Mahatma Gandhi, the free Minecraft DLC aims to “help students understand how civic action, moral courage, and “good trouble” have shaped society – and how similar principles can guide their own actions today.”

“Discover the meaning of ‘good trouble’ in this inspiring Minecraft experience,” reads the official description. “Participate in pivotal civil rights moments throughout history by marching across the Edmund Pettus Bridge alongside John Lewis, standing up for girls’ education with Malala Yousafzai, and joining Nelson Mandela’s fight against apartheid. Through immersive missions and meaningful choices, learners discover their own power to stand up for what’s right and make a difference in their communities.

The expansion will also “highlight how various social justice movements around the world (Women’s Suffrage, India’s Independence, Anti-Apartheid, Equal Education for Girls) parallel and intersect with each other.”

However some fans aren’t impressed with the latest Minecraft expansion. “As much as I like this idea, people are going to mod this and make incredibly offensive videos that go straight to Instagram Reels,” wrote one fan. “The problematic mods for this are going to be wild,” warned another.

“I’d been under the assumption that Minecraft was a thing people played for escapist reasons, looking to forget the burdens of this world by forging their own one in a crazy fantasy world for a small respite in life. Guess you guys must have market research saying otherwise,” said another. Other fans have been complaining about Minecraft going “woke”.

“The cool thing is you don’t have to use this if you don’t want to,” wrote one X user.

In other news, Fallout star Aaron Moten stars in a new ad for classic Fallout games, stoking rumours that a remake is set to be announced later today.
