Barry Keoghan has unveiled a new Beatles-style haircut ahead of playing Ringo Starr in the Fab Four biopic.
Sam Mendes’ four-film series about The Beatles is currently scheduled for a simultaneous release in April 2028. Alongside Keoghan as Starr, Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will portray George Harrison, and Harris Dickinson has been cast as John Lennon.
The Irish actor has already met with his real-life counterpart, and admitted to being nervous during their first encounter, as well as being unable to look at him.
Now, it appears the star has styled his hair in preparation for the role, sporting the band’s signature “mop top” haircut at the London premiere of his new film, Crime 101, on Wednesday evening (January 28). It’s the first hint at what the actor may look like as the famous drummer, as no official images from the films have been released.
Recently, Mescal confirmed that production for the films was ongoing. “We’re a while away from finishing,” he told Variety. “That’s my job for all of 2026.” He also said that “I think the world hopefully will benefit from knowing as little as possible going into it.” In another interview, he revealed he would be doing his own singing for the role.
Elsewhere, How To Have Sex star Mia McKenna-Bruce, who will plays Starr’s wife Maureen Starkey in the films, admitted she wasn’t a fan of the band before being cast in the movie. “We sang ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and ‘Yellow Submarine’ at school, but it wasn’t my jam” she revealed to Tatler.
The real-life Ringo Starr said in July that he offered “extensive notes” on the movie’s script, telling The New York Times: “[Mendes] had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I. That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’”
