Released in 2020, Half-Life: Alyx was the long-awaited follow-up to 2004’s Half-Life 2. Controversially, the prequel was only available as a VR title but Alyx still went on to sell more than 2million copies.
Yesterday (January 27) Ipecac Recordings confirmed they were bringing the Half-Life: Alyx soundtrack to vinyl for the very first time after only being available in-game and on streaming before. Composed by Valve’s Mike Morasky with contributions from original Half-Life composer Kelly Bailey, the music for Alyx took inspiration from Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy and Skinny Puppy.

Some Half-Life fans believe the long-rumoured Half-Life 3 will launch alongside Valve’s new Steam Machine console after nods to the cult game were spotted on promo materials.
Developers Valve started working on the ambitious Half-Life 3 in 2013, which “would have used procedural generation between hand-crafted story moments to create a more replayable game,” but the game was scrapped after a year.
The Steam Machine doesn’t currently have a release date but it’s expected to launch at some point this year. “With over six times the horsepower of Steam Deck, Steam Machine has the power to play your whole Steam library, including your favourite AAA titles. Just sign in with your Steam account and your entire library is there,” reads a description.
In other news, PC gamers in the UK could be in for a share of £656million after a lawsuit against digital platform Steam was allowed to go ahead.
