The Netflix series came to an end after five seasons earlier this month, with Maya thus concluding her role as Robin Buckley after more than six years.

Ethan has now shared some advice to his daughter in the wake of its ending, telling Variety: “Time to move on. You got to do it, and move on. Don’t look back.”

Outside of Stranger Things, Maya has starred in the likes of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Inside Out 2 and Asteroid City, and also has a career as a singer-songwriter, having released three studio albums.

Last year, the actress suggested some films only get made based on their stars’ Instagram followers.

“I don’t care about Instagram. Instagram sucks. Right, well just so you know, if you have over this many followers you can get the movie funded,” she said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “It’s a really confusing line to walk.”

She revealed that she had floated the idea of “deleting my Instagram” with some directors, though one told her: “Just so you know, when I’m casting a movie with some producers, they hand me a sheet with the amount of collective followers I have to get from the cast.

“So if you delete your Instagram and I lose those followers, understand these are the kinds of people I need to cast around you.”

Ethan recently earned an Oscar nomination for his lead performance in Blue Moon, where he plays American lyricist Lorenz Hart.

Last year, the actor chastised young people for “not watching more movies”, adding to MovieMaker: “I mean, they’re perfectly willing to binge watch, for weeks of their life, something they know is really super okay, and the Criterion Channel is right there. Like, they could be watching Badlands as we speak.”

In other news, it has been revealed that season two of Wednesday beat the final season of Stranger Things in last year’s streaming numbers, taking in 124million views to the sci-fi series’ 94million – though the numbers were slightly curtailed given the Stranger Things finale aired on New Year’s Day.

In NME‘s review of the first part of the final season, we wrote: “Even in piecemeal form, Stranger Things has a flair for epic and emotionally resonant storytelling. After all those years, this smart, big-hearted sci-fi show still has the power to turn your head upside down.”
